Tag Performance Analysis

You can find a detailed analysis of our tags on this page. This is a mathematical analysis on how our tags will perform.

Starting Constants

This outlines a lot of the base constants for the following calculations, incase someone wishes to validate them themselves

Tag Constants
Assumed mat detection diameter 1 meters
Tag transmit speed 128 kBits/s
Transmitted bits per ID 80 bits
Transmit duration per ID 610.35 microseconds
ID Transmissions to confirm passing 3

Max Participants Density

This calculates what density of participants you can have in a set area. These resulting numbers are a static number, and no not account for any runner speed!
IE if you had X number of participants all standing on a mat. Over 1 second, you could scan / detect that many participants

Tags - Runner Density Shoe Tag MTS
IDs per second 16.0 32.0 64.0 128.0
Max participants (per second, per mat) 102.4 51.2 25.6 12.8
Realistic participants (per second, per mat) 37.67 18.84 9.42 4.71

Consider these numbers as how many participants are able to cross the mat over 1 second, and still have reliable detection.

Timing Precision

This calculates what is the precision of timing when using a specific tag. We assume that 3 reads is required for a confirmed passing / sighting for a participant. We show what the resolution in milliseconds will be at different speeds, along with the number of reads the system will be able to detect.

A red number indicates that is no longer reasonable to assume that you will get a guaranteed read. It is up to the customer's choice if they want to risk not reliably detecting a runner. We do not recommend using a specific tag in a use case with anything less than 3 reads.

Lifespan

Since we use active tag technology for all of our HF tags, they have a defined lifespan once manufactured as the battery is continually drained till flat.

We order them new for every customer order.
